Supporting Educators to Support Students

About RheThinking

Meet the Founder

Rhea Royster, M. Ed., an elementary educator with nearly two decades of experience, is passionate about school being a place that nurtures both meaningful connections and academic growth.

Rhea embarked on her journey in education in 2007 in Newark, NJ, where she discovered her joy of teaching. Through her various roles as instructional assistant, classroom teacher, teacher mentor, and literacy coach, Rhea realized her passion and skill for cultivating relationships with students, developing and teaching  literacy curriculum,  and supporting colleagues. Propelled by her will to learn and lead, Rhea earned her masters degree in Educational Leadership from Montclair State University in 2016 and shortly after assumed the role of staff developer at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Rhea has worked with over 150 schools, hundreds of teachers, and thousands of students across the country supporting their reading and writing instruction. Rhea has led countless workshops on topics such as minilessons, small groups, and conferences. Rhea gladly models lessons for teachers and just as gladly offers feedback after watching theirs. Rhea also works with coaches and principals offering guidance around curriculum and teacher support.

ABOUT

Supporting Educators to Support Students

APPROACH

At RheThinking, we are deeply committed to the belief that empowering educators is the key to unlocking the full potential of every student. Our mission revolves around the idea that when we support educators effectively, we create a ripple effect of positive change that directly benefits students and, in turn, society as a whole.

By focusing on "Supporting Educators to Support Students," we recognize that:

  1. Investing in Educators: We understand that educators face unique challenges and demands. By providing them with the support, resources, and professional development opportunities they need, we ensure that they can stay motivated, continually improve their skills, and remain passionate about teaching.

  2. Building a Supportive Community: Educators don't work in isolation. Our approach encourages collaboration, sharing of best practices, and a sense of belonging within a supportive educational community. When educators can lean on one another for guidance and inspiration, their ability to support their students flourishes.

  3. Focusing on Student Outcomes: Ultimately, the success of any educational initiative is measured by the growth and achievements of students. By prioritizing the support of educators, we align our efforts with the goal of improving student outcomes, whether it's in the classroom, online, or in any learning environment.

Join us in this mission, and together, let's create a world where every educator feels empowered to support every student on their unique path to success.
